The Unholy  2021

Jeffrey Dean Morgan  Cricket Brown

Small town uncovers an old curse that has been re-invited back by a fame hungry journalist.  Gerald (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) is a self centered journalist who does not believe in anything but his own popularity.  While in a small religious town, Gerald photographs an old tree containing a doll that has been wrapped up to enclose the demon spirit that once terrorized its people.  Once the entity is release it sets its sights on Alice an innocent deaf girl who now can hear and receives instructions from "Mary," who she believes to be the Mother Mary.  She is given the power to heal the sick and wounded of the town.  Alice is a visionary, being praised and adored by everyone, until the evil shows through.  Gerald befriends Alice and learns the back story of "Mary."  He helps Alice and the town see the truth and eliminates the demon.  The story line of this film was very good.  Well thought out and holds a classic creep factor that dates back to witch craft and devil worship.  I am not sure why, but this film lacked excitement.  The story was great, and it moved quickly, but I am not sure if it was the acting or the timeline of scenes but it had a dragging feel to it. I feel this film is worth the story if you have nothing else to entertain you.

Courtney Ford  Shaun Benson

Jessica and Evan are an engaged couple new to suburban neighborhood, meet Simon, a college professor.  Jessica suspects Simon to be too private and chooses to investigate him, only to find her creepy neighbor holds women hostage in his secluded basement.  Jessica has to play along and transform herself into a 1950's styled housewife.  After some time locked away she has the opportunity to escape and Simon gets locked away in jail.  This psychological thriller was predictable and fast paced, but still enjoyable.

80's Movies

Teen Witch  1989
Robyn Lively

High school geek, Louise longs to be noticed by her hunky football star crush, Brad. Louise befriends a local fortune teller who helps her become the most popular girl in school.  Once all the new found attention grows sour, Louise has a choice to make; stay under an adoring spell or being yourself was good enough.

 The Monster Squad  1987
Andre Gower  Duncan Regehr

Sean, leader of his group of horror fanned friends called 'The Monster Squad' discovers that Count Dracula is trying to take over his small town.  This has been a favorite of mine since I was little.  It has the greats of the monster movie genre; Frankenstein, Wolfman (and he has nards!) Mummy and Creature from the Black Lagoon.

 Legend 1985
Tom Cruise  Mia Sara  Tim Curry

This film is my absolute favorite! I could go on and on with it for hours!!  A forest boy falls in love with a princess and loses her to the devil of darkness after the powerful magic of the earths unicorns has been tainted by evil.  There are three versions of this film but I highly recommend the 1985, US version with the Tangerine Dream score! That particular version blends the film together and leaves a loving lasting memory.  The hard work that went into this film is incredible.  Tim Curry is usually magnificent in each role he accepts but this one is hands down the best.

Some Kind of Wonderful  1987
Leah Thompson  Mary Stewart Masterson

Keith is a small town hard working teenage boy in love and destine to date the most popular girl in school.  His best friend Watts has crushed on Keith for years but puts her feelings for him aside to bring together the perfect date.  This is a cute love story that ends the way it should.

The Legend of Bille Jean  1985
Helen Slater  Christian Slater
I love, love, love this film.  Billie Jean Davey and her brother Binx live in a trailer park and are often bullied by a local privileged boy Hubie who trashes Binx's bike.  When Billie Jean goes to Hubie's father to ask for money for the damaged bike, he tries to rape her.  Binx accidently shoots Hubie's father only injuring him but Billie Jean and Binx panic and runaway.

Stand By Me  1986
Will Wheaton  River Phoenix

This film is a coming of age story and I feel that every young boy should watch it.  Four friends, travel on foot to see a dead body of a boy they know.  Story is set in the summer of the mid 1950's.  It is an easy to follow plot and each character shines through to your heart.

Summer School  1987
Mark Harmon  Kirstie Alley

A easy going gym teacher is forced to teach an English course over his summer vacation for a bunch of misfits.  This is such a goofy feel good film, I can guarantee a chuckle or two will arise from its comedy.
April Fool's Day  1986
Deborah Foreman  Amy Steel

This is definitely  a hidden horror gem.  Friends gather to a lake house to have their host try out a 'who dunnit' weekend, only they do not know it.  It holds the classic stereotypes of an 80's horror film and the twist was smart and edgy.
Gleaming the Cube  1989
Christian Slater  Tony Hawk

Christian Slater plays "Brian," a slacker skater who finds out his brothers death was a set up and he uncovers a secret life that may also kill him if he is not careful.  I adore this film, young blonde Christian Slater heck yeah!

BMX Bandits  1983
Nicole Kidman  James Lugton

Young biker kids find a walkie talkies and get involved a chase by criminals who use them to plot robberies.  This is a film I remember watching over and over with my brother and sister.  This Aussie based film is entertaining and fun.  Plus, you get a young fresh Nicole Kidman in her element.

TV Shows

Pam and Tommy  2022

Lily James   Sebastian Stan

This HULU TV series is based on steamy actress Pamela Anderson and hard core metal rocker Tommy Lee.  Pam and Tommy were a racy couple that did not shy away from their affections.  They did however make a home video tape of them on vacation and having sex.  Back in the 1990's the tape was produced to the public.  The whole sex tape scandal was a hot issue for many years and caused endless media frenzy's for the couple. This series has a lot of sex scenes and full exposed body parts.  Growing up during this fiasco, it is fun to see a revamp on this topic.  I feel that Lily and Sebastian did a great job in their roles.

Somebody Somewhere  2022

Bridget Everett  Jeff Hiller

"Sam," played by Bridget Everett, is a small town woman just trying to figure out her life.  "Sam" used to be a well known singer in high school and re joins old classmates during a church service.  This is a mild comedy series written by the Duplass brothers.  I do enjoy Mark Duplass he is naturally funny and a great actor.  This is such a feel good series and I laugh at least once during each episode.

Euphoria  2019

Zendaya   Syndney Sweeny

HBO TV series about a group of high school students deal with everyday, heart break, drug abuse and friendship.  Everyone but Zendaya's character "Ru" are awful.  "Ru" is a young drug addict that reflects on her father death, trying to fight off depression and anxiety.  The mental imbalance of "Ru's"  psychological disorder is very interesting and at times relatable.  The loneliness is highly compatible.  I have had a fascination with mental disorders and watching interviews with serial killers.  The dissection of their thoughts and formation of their words hold a mysterious truth.  Zendaya is such a cutie pie and her character is the only reason I watch this series, the rest of the casts "problems" are annoying.  The camera angles in this series are swirly, upside down and spherical.  It was annoying, not creative.  I had to look away a lot because it gave me motion sickness.

The Book of Boba Fett  2021

Temuera Morrison  Ming-Na Wen

First off, I have been a Star Wars fan since I was a kid.  The originals are the best.  I personally did not care for The Mandalorian series, I felt it was dreadfully boring.  For some reason when I heard this series was coming through I had my skepticism and doubts but I was happily wronged.  I feel that this is more of an art piece instead of a piece of the pie so to speak.  It holds very little dialog and much action.  I respect that instead of getting lost in a ridiculous deep back story it just moves forward.  There are some flashbacks of Boba's youth and transformation into the bounty hunter he becomes but it does not over do it.  I would recommend this series to any Star Wars fan, especially those die hard Boba Fett fans.

Will & Grace  1998

Eric McCormack  Debra Messing

This sitcom is hilarious!  A gem from the 90's for sure.  Will and Grace dated in college, only to find out that Will is homosexual.  Their breakup was tough but their friendship is stronger because of it .  It is comical how they rely on each other.  Super cute, super codependent.  My favorite part of this series is Jack and KarenJack is an openly gay man, very dramatic, silly and FUNNY!  Karen is a wealthy drug and alcohol junkie who is also Grace's work assistant.  Jack and Karen are similar to Will and Grace, codependent but they are silly and nothing is off the table.  With out Jack and Karen the show wouldn't keep afloat.

1883  2021

Tim McGraw  Isabel May

Prequel to Yellowstone, this series is set in western times and follows the beginning of the Dutton family.  Daughter Elsa narrates as her family wagon trains across the west.  The script and wording is highly impressive.  I do not really care for the characters but the way that Elsa expresses herself is electric.  She is a young lady transitioning into a woman, learning the ways of the world through hardship and the dreadful time period.

Welcome to Earth  2022

Will Smith

This is a beautiful docu-series that follows actor Will Smith on experiences in different parts of the world.  This series is much more than your typical nature show.  They dive deep down to the core and purpose of ways of life and how differences are not flaws.

Yellow Jackets  2021

Juliette Lewis  Christina Ricci

Showtime built series about a girls soccer team that survive a plane crash.  Okay, now this show has many similarities to Lord of the Flies and the film Alive.  I do like the story line, but one thing about this show that turns me off is the constant back and forth between the teenage girls in the wilderness and back to their adult lives.  I usually don't mind the transition but the constant back and forth gets tiring and causes me to lose interest.  I also feel that we are uncertain of these girls whereabouts.  Is this forest haunted? Cursed? Do the girls resort to cannibalism or is there a sinister tribe living among them?  The important points are taking too long to become unraveled.  This show has potential but I feel it is leaving an impression on unimportant factors but I still try to stick with it.

The Real World  1992

This MTV show, was based on seven strangers picked to live in a house, have their lives taped during real life situations.  Started in 1992, this show has had many series and cast members.  Each personality is different and unique.  I was a fan of this series when I was young and it had opened a few doors and peeked many questions.  The cast of New York City was the fresh firsts to kick off this entire long lived franchise.

                                            Heather

Heather is my absolute favorite of this cast!  She is a strong, truthful and hilarious woman!  MTV followed her rap career and now she is successful in entertainment bringing on that sharp wit and words of wisdom.  She always seemed to have a good sense about her along with humor, she is the perfection of a woman.

                                            Norman

This intelligent creative cutie pie brought a sweetness to the group.  Norman is open about his sexuality during this season and invites us to share his relationships.  His artist side is just as beautiful as his soul.  I enjoyed him in this cast and feel that he could be am instant best friend with his soft eyes and peaceful nature.

                                            Julie

This baby bird left her cozy Alabama nest to see the world outside her family values.  Nineteen year old Julie is a southern sweet heart that dives into these new adventures with out thinking twice.  We see her learn about city life when she befriends a homeless woman, Darlene.  A vicious fight with room mate Kevin on racial issues, sex discussions, and following her dream to become a dancer.

                                            Kevin

Such a looker! Kevin is handsome, intelligent and empowering.  Kevin was known for argument in the loft, but he was trying to find a common ground with many of his room mates on how the world is corrupt and still stuck in ignorance.  I felt that Kevin speaks out his deep pain through out a few of the arguments but he stands his ground and is a visionary.  He is a powerful and successful voice for our world today with his writing and acting.

                                            Becky

Becky is this beautiful singer, song writer.  She is seductive and good hearted.  Although, many arguments erupted between her and Kevin, I felt she tried hard to relate and claim to be on the same level as him but only dug herself deeper with each comment.  Becky and Kevin get back into the ring of fire in a heated discussion on racial justice and equality but she still misses the mark.

                                            Eric

Eric tries to experience life to its highest capacity.  Beautiful inside and out we follow this model/actor on his journey through his entertainment career.  I felt many demons lived inside of Eric, the way his truth would come out in forms of attention was a red flag of something simmering deep inside of himself. He had years of soul searching finding his purpose, balancing his aura and promoting a peaceful way of life.  Unfortunately, this reboot reunion had taken place in a time of Covid-19, which Eric tested positive for and he cannot physically be with his former roommates but keeps in contact with video calls.

                                            Andre

Andre was a young rock and roll star who's baby face could save him from anything.  Sweet and soulful, artist showed us his pride and joy rock band trying to make it off the ground.  I am not sure his rock band made it big, but they were definitely talented enough.  Today he lives a happy married life with his one daughter.

The Real World Reunion was beautiful for this cast because they always seemed to get along pretty well.  Yes, they did have their arguments, but it never seemed to last long and they became closer as they worked through it.

The Real World S2: California

This is the first cast and season I have watched.  This was so different from anything I had watched on TV during the 90s.

                            Tami

Look at this gorgeous and radiant beauty!!  I saw her on screen in the 90's and instantly fell in love.  She is so beautiful and I admired her attitude.  She is a no nonsense woman and held a strong belief in herself.

                             Dominic

Unfortunately, Dominic did not attend the reunion.  Besides Tami, he was my favorite!  He was always truthful and funny.  He did drink quite a bit but that is what makes him, him.  He was another no nonsense personality that I just admire.

                                David

Now, I didn't like David from the beginning but i kind of liked him more in the reunion.  He tried to reconcile with Tami and apologize which was nice but i still feel like he took it with out heart felt words.  I still feel that he is an asshole but he is him with out apology.

                                    Jon

Jon is still a virgin-holy moly yes it is true, round of applause! He no longer writes or performs country music, he is a pastor at a local church.  go God! He still gives good advice and makes sense of a difficult situation.

                                      Beth S.

I have never cared for this woman and i still dont.  I find her annoying and feel she craves attention no matter what she has to do to get it.

                                 Irene

I have liked Irene from day on kind of sad that she was only in the first half of the season but enjoyed seeing her again in this reunion.  We learned many secrets Irene had kept.  She had been married before Tim, a previous abortion and married again on this reunion show.

                             Beth A.

I have always liked Beth A.  She has a good heart and good to carry a conversation.  She makes good choices with in guiding her roommates.

                             Aaron

Never a fan of this man because i feel like he thought he was better than his roommates and he down plays him being apart of this cast so it like why even try out for it if this embarrasses you so?  He didn't show up on the reunion either and I didn't miss him.

Yellowstone  2018-

Kevin Costner  Luke Grimes

Notorious ranch owned family The Duttons take on big wigs who try to take over their land to expand business.  John Dutton (Kevin Costner) is the father of four children; Lee, Jamie, Kayce and Beth.  John has tried to raise his children and run a ranch on his own since his wife was killed from a horse accident.  Lee; (David Annable) you dont get to know well enough because he gets killed almost instantly with in the show, but he is apart of the Dutton children,  Jamie; (Wes Bentley) is a posh successful political man of the town and tries to bring fame and fortune to the family.  Most of his life, Jamie has not felt completely accepted with in his family, a long battle with sister Beth, is volatile and progression towards danger as Beth holds a sinister grudge against Jamie after a personal matter that effects the rest of her life.  Jamie comes to find out that he was adopted by the Dutton family after Jamie's real father murdered his mother in a drug fueled rage.  Kayce (Luke Grimes) married and has a son with a Native American woman named MonicaKayce and his father have butted heads during Kayce's teen years and when he married a rival race John and Kayce practically lived separate lives. Kayce tries to bury the past and helps his father with their ranch.  Beth the only Dutton daughter, who is upfront an to the point business woman who knows what she wants and attacks it until she rules it.  She is a power house in this series.  Her brash ways and brutal honesty makes her my favorite character.  This series is definitely one to see! It holds such an incredible script and the actors could not be more perfect for these roles.

American Horror Story
Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Jessica Lange
2011-

Season 1  Murder House

This first installment in the AHS series is the basic haunted house concept.  It has more sexual content than scary in this season.  It is based around a family that buys a new home and deals with strange happens.  I found this to be rather boring and was hoping that a twist on the usual haunted house could be better.

Season 2  Asylum

This season is better in my opinion!  I enjoy a good creepy crazy asylum!  This held two stories: one of an urban legend serial killer that turns out to be true, the other is patients in an asylum in the 1960s.  I always like how this adds a dash of alien encounter.  So much action in this season I was glad I could binge watch one episode after another.

Season 3  Coven

This season was great.  I love all things involving witches and witch craft.  A group of girls live in a home ran by a head witch who all battle to be the next "supreme" head witch.  I enjoyed Denis O'Hare's performance as the burned butler.  He held such a creepy yet caring character.

Season 4  Freak Show

This season started out interesting, but got slow very quickly.  I honestly didn't finish the last 2 episodes because I just couldn't get into it.  This season follows a circus freak show along with a serial killer clown who befriends a rich spoiled man who still lives with his mother.  I enjoyed the work that went into this season but I feel it lacked in some areas where it could have tighten up the scenes and not use as much fluff.

Season 5  Hotel

This season unfortunately held a predictable story line, but the performances and characters were amazing.  A haunted hotel plagues it guest and leaves a lasting impression on a failed out police detective who is trying to save his troubled marriage.  Evan Peters portrayal of James Patrick March was magnificent! His character reminded me of serial killer H.H. Holmes.  There is an episode when James Patrick March holds dinner of the dead with many notorious serial killers and it was moving.  I cannot forget about the radiant Lady Gaga who plays a vampire of the hotel.  Her and Matt Bombers throat slashing sex scene was art.  Yet again I have to recognize Denis O'Hare who plays a married man who struggles to be himself through cross dressing.

Season 6  Roanoke

This season was such a disappointment.  It could have been better in so many ways.  A couple buys a home on haunted ground.  Now, lets start with why did they need to do the interview style of a paranormal show?  It just didn't need to be included, such a waste of time bouncing back and forth between the different actors of this show.

Season 7  Cult

This season has been the goriest yet.  Lots of harsh stabbing, numerous deaths and hate spreads through out this season trying to show the impact of the voting rivalry between Trump VS Clinton.  A mentally disturbed man named Kai tries to grow a cult dressed up as clowns who take out any one who disagrees with their "politics."

Season 8 Apocalypse

I am not sure why but many dislike this season.  It tends to fall under the worst season next to Roanoke.  I on the other hand found it to be good.  There is a lot of dialog held in this season, which is probably why many find it dull.  Each performance was aces and felt the soundtrack as per usual fits like a glove.

Season 9 1984

Now personally, I feel is the worst season of the AHS franchiseI did not even finish the season it was unbearable.  I watched up to episode 6, and felt that I was watching a bad remake of Friday the 13th.  I do enjoy stories about serial killers, this touches on the story about Richard Ramirez, as known as "Night Stalker," but I still was unimpressed.

Season 10 Red Tide

This is a double feature season.  Just finished the first half and I enjoyed it.  Struggling author Harry, moves his pregnant wife and young daughter to Massachusetts looking for inspiration.  A few days of the off season shore town, Harry meets famous writers and learns of their dark secrets to success by consuming pills.  Harry buckles under pressure wanting a better life for his family and becomes addicted to the pills.  His young daughter mimics her fathers ways but becomes sinister killing anyone who wants to stop her.  This partial season was entertaining and has a cross over Zombie, Vampire theme.  I am eager to see how the second half concludes this season.   The second half is atrocious.  The fist episode; first 15 min was incredible, I had high hopes but they were quickly shattered.  The beginning was intelligent.  set in the 1960's, black and white filter, alien encounter which throws curve balls in the disappearance of Amelia Earhart.  Then the rest of the episode and from what I could stand of the remainder of this season follow a group of young group of friends that mysteriously become impregnated with alien babies.

 After Life 2019

Ricky Gervais

News paper journalist must learn to live on after losing his wife to breast cancer.  This show deals with loss and failure.  Many scenes of attempting suicide, but it holds a dark humor.  I absolutely love Ricky Gervais.  He produces a rude, sarcastic and straight forward humor that gives absolutely zero fucks, hahahaha.  This Short six episode series is a definite must watch!  There are some episodes where I cried from laughter, I hope this series continues for several seasons.

Portlandia  2011

Fred Armisen  Carrie Brownstein

This multi-comedic sketch series reflects on the era tragic slump of different parts of Oregon.  I found this TV series to be fresh and creative even still personally debuting it in 2018.  I know, I know, I am a day late and a dollar short, but at least I stumbled across it's genius.  I enjoy good old fashioned honesty presented in a way it is not overdone.  So much work went into this series.  I appreciate minds that keep churning creativity.  There is a massive snowball which grows into an avalanche then immerses you into a twenty minute brain break.  My favorite skit is the bookstore feminists.  Closed minded women with a quick attitude, ridiculously funny.

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia  2005

Charlie Day  Rob McElenney

This show is a pisser.  It follows everyday life of brother, sister and two friends who own a run down bar in Philadelphia.  The first two seasons are a bit dated but as the show continues, it gains more humor.  I cannot believe how funny the writing is for this series.  It holds slapstick, satire and cringe comedy that keeps you coming back for more.  Charlie Day is my favorite character in this show because he is such a strange little man who does not apologies for being himself, but each member has their own comedic stand to blend into a unique piece of art.

What We Do in the Shadows  2019

Kayvan Novak  Harvey Guillen

I absolutely loved the film that this show was based off of, sharing the same title, so of course I loved this series.  It holds the same main idea from the film but the show has some new blood added to it.  The humor is incredible! Which would make sense because it has the same writers.  I like Nandor's character solely for his accent, it cracks me up!  Four vampires try to live with each other despite their very different natures, in Staten Island, New York.  The third season is currently running, I highly recommend this goofy comedy.

Big Little Lies  2017
Nicole Kidman  Reese Witherspoon

HBO original series follows the everyday lives of five California women.  Celeste played by
Nicole Kidman is married to Perry (Alexander Skarsgard) a successful, handsome, violent and sexually abusive man who is aware of his anger issues but tries to keep their family together. Madeline (Reese Witherspoon) is an always on the go divorced mom who holds a severe grudge against her ex husband. Jane played by Shailene Woodley is a new to the area single mom, befriends Madeline becomes part of the inner circle until her young son is labeled a troublemaker.  Even though this show can move a tad slow it is still interesting on how it keeps you guessing on how these women will figure out to conquer success with out losing their minds.  I honestly can relate to Celeste's character.  When ever she falls victim to an abusive scene it brings tears to my eyes.  The control of her husband hits my soul and I believe that's why I choose to keep watching, just to see if she chooses to stay a victim or walk away from the danger she endures multiple times a day.
You can catch Big Little Lies on HBO Sunday 9pm.  This show time completely conflicts with The Walking Dead so I don't usually view it until the next day, sorry ladies a filthy Norman Reedus calls my name!

Beverly Hills, 90210  1990
Jason Priestley, Shannen Doherty

This show was my 90's! I grew up idolizing these spoiled rich kids with their personal problems spilling out from my tv screen once a week on the Fox network.  This drama series focuses on twins Brandon and Brenda Walsh, Minnesota natives trying to make it in the fancy Beverly Hills, California after relocating from fathers job. I revisited this series on Hulu after Luke Perry's recent passing.  Luke played the troubled yet gorgeous, bad boy surfer Dylan McKay.  So many memories played back while binge watching this series. Although, I guess this show had to make some arrangements because it has the CBS logo on the lower right corner, stripping the episodes of their icon 90's hits that were once the soundtrack of the show.  I have to mention I was also very disappointed at the "goofs" of several episods, such as: you can clearly see the audio mic hanging from many scenes and the lip sync dubs are noticeably off kilter. Many episodes were not included in this "CBS" version which also irritated me.  The acting and story lines are well praised so I would still recommend it.

Stranger Things  2016-
Winona Ryder, Matthew Modine

This Netflix original series is a nostalgic masterpiece. Set in 1983, three young boys trust a special intelligence girl in order to find their missing friend. This show had a Stephen King feel. It had its creepy, mysterious moments and enough action to keep you hitting "play the next episode" button. This show is incredible!  The cast is amazing! If you enjoy alien based entertainment this is for you!

 Season 2

In this season we learn that Will still has a connection to the upside down.  He can feel the fear creeping up on the town.  He tries to keep it a secret but his mom's boyfriend Bob tires guide Will on standing up to his "demons."  Will tries to fight against visions and body altering experiences, but the demon grows stronger as Will deteriorates.  Hopper finds El in the woods, takes her in as his own.  Being that Hopper lost his own daughter at a young age, he is more than happy to be a father to El.  She tries to adjust to her new but still isolated lifestyle, but she grows lonely and her teenage attitude brings on fights between her and Hopper.  El alone with her thoughts, has flashbacks of her mother and we find out Eleven's real name is Jane.  As Hopper is out trying to extinguish anymore horror that may befall upon town, El explores to find her mother.  She succeeds on reuniting with her Aunt who takes care of El's mother, Terry.  Terry suffers from intentional brain damage causes by Papa in order to keep baby Eleven part of his experiment.  Dustin discovers a new form of alien creature wandering around his home.  His good nature cannot bear to kill the creature so he decides to keep and study it. Nancy and Jonathon set out to expose the cover up by the government.  Joyce and Mike try to work on how to ex-spell the evil lurking inside Will by Bob solving the obscure clues left from the upside down.  (hey Goonies never say die-you go Bob).  New student Max, a young woman who shadows El's spot with the boys tries to help crack the case on destroying the evil but her abusive and cocky step brother keeps her contribution to a minimum.  There are so many pieces in each episode of this season it paves the way towards the next chapter.

Season 3

Grace and Frankie  2015
Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Sam Waterston, Martin Sheen

I could not have been happier to see the Netflix born series Grace and Frankie produced a second season.  I fell in love with the hilarious Lily Tomlin who plays Frankie a hippie, free spirited wife to soft spoken, kind hearted Sol played by Sam Waterston.  Sol and business partner Robert (Martin Sheen) fall in love and keep their gay love affair secret from their wives and children for years.  When Sol and Robert finally decide to confess their love for one another to Grace (Jane Fonda) and Frankie it forces an unlikely friendship towards the two women where they depend on each other for support from their failed marriages.  This show is honestly one of the best.  With so many reality shows corroding our channels, Grace and Frankie is a breath of fresh air with a genius script.

Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee  2012

Jerry Seinfeld

I cannot get enough of this show.  I love coffee, I love funny people, this is such a cozy show to binge watch.  This series is about respected comic Jerry Seinfeld driving rare vintage cars accompanied by legendary comedians, actors and actresses for coffee and chit chat.  I have enjoyed so many of these episodes through out the four seasons. Some I have re-watched because it was so funny, Tracey Morgan, Dana Carvey, Zach Galifiankis, just to name a few.

 The Cool Kids  2019
Vicki Lawrence  David Allan Grier

This show is a guaranteed to make you giggle.  This show takes place in a retirement home and follows the lives of four friends.  Each character is funny in their own way, but I can not get enough of the adorable petite country bumpkin, "Sid" played by Leslie Jordan.  His accent and cutesy ways make me smile each episode.  This show airs Friday nights on FOX, but if you have HULU, you can binge watch.

Rick and Morty  2013
Justin Roiland

This adult themed animated series is a pisser! Rick Sanchez is an alcoholic scientist who drags his grandson Morty on strange adventures through space, other dimensions and planets with killer aliens.  This series holds strong adult humor and themes.  It was debuted on Cartoon Networks Adult Swim, you can find old episodes on Hulu or a few other choice streaming apps.  I personally find myself re-watching old episodes if I have trouble finding something to watch for the night.  If you enjoy rude 'Family Guy' type of humor then you will love this!

The Twilight Zone  1959
Rod Sterling

This is a fantastic series of strange and unexplained stories, all different in their own unique way.  The beginning of each episode Rod Sterling narrates a snippet of the upcoming experience.  I find this series powerful because of all the monologues; some episodes are of just one actor killing it.  A few of my favorites are:
S1 E16: The Hitchhiker
This is a tale of a woman relocating across the country for a new job.  She constantly sees the same man "hitching" for a ride.  No matter how far she travels or seems to get ahead of this man he is right on her trail.  Little does she know she is really dead, and this "hitcher" was trying to welcome her onto the other side.  The ending monologue was so captivating to me: Very odd, the fear has left me now, I'm numb, I have no feeling, it is as if someone has pulled out some kind of a plug in me and everything; emotion, feeling fear has drained out and now i am a cold shell.  I am conscious of things around me now, the vast night of Arizona, stars that look down from the darkness.  Ahead of me stretch a thousand miles of empty Mesa, mountains, prairies, desert.  Somewhere among them he's waiting for me, somewhere I'll find out who he is, I'll find out.  I'll find out what he wants, for just now, for the first time, looking out at the night, I think I know, I think I know.
Such a beautiful ending.
S2 E2: Man in the Bottle
Older married couple owns an antique shop in financial ruin, take in an ordinary looking wine bottle.  When the bottle is opened, a genie appears claiming he can grant 4 wishes.  Once the couple use the wishes and face unforeseen consequences, they regret everything and use their last wish to return back to their everyday lives.  The scene that shocked me the most was when the older man turned into Hitler.  That must have been such a shock for the time period of this series and I appreciated the balls it took to televise its sequence.  I loved the charming intensity of the man who played the genie in this episode.  The haunting unknown felt safe with in his evil eyes.

Nine Perfect Strangers 2021
Melissa McCarthy  Nicole Kidman

Tranquilum is a retreat in the middle of a beautiful jungle that is suppose to transform you into a new and more positive life by micro-doses of hallucinogenic drugs.  Some guests are battling a devastating tragedy, others are stuck in a rut.

Masha: is the owner of Tranquilum.  Born and raised in Russia, tough as nails work ethic, buries the sudden death of her only daugher has a near death experience and was reborn to help others with their life struggles.

Frances: Unsuccessful author who has been scammed out of money by an online relationship, feels she has truly failed when her publisher decides to drop her.

The Marconi Family: Napoleon, Heather and Zoe are a grieving the suicide of their son and brother; Zach.  Napoleon(father) tries to stay up beat and hide his feelings on his son's death.  Heather(mother) has nothing but regret and sadness in her heart.  She can not think of anything but her loss and it affects the remaining family members.  Zoe(daughter and twin sister of Zach) tries to avoid any relationship she shared with her brother to over come her depression.  She doesn't mind being ignored by her parents because she does not want to talk about how close she was with Zach or how horribly she misses him.  These three characters use the hallucinatory drugs the most and at the highest dosage to "see" Zach again trying to understand why he would end his life and try to have a little more time spent with him, only if just an apparition.

Jessica and Ben: Young married couple who feel they have lost themselves and the spark in their relationship.

Lars: Under cover journalist who seeks out what exactly goes on inside this retreat.  Hopeful on discovering new information on a previous guest who was rumored to die from drug overdose while his stay at Tranquilum.

Tony: Pain pill addicted ex pro football player tries to beat his addiction and finds a new love interest with Frances.  I loved the playful banter between Tony and Frances.  I am not one for lovey dovey things but I was happy to see those two get together.

Carmel: This is a colorful character!  This woman is suffering from a divorce, infidelity, depression and I would say just shy of multiple personality disorder.  This one was all over the place and continuously has the nagging twists through out the series.

This series was great! I was so happy to have something new that was actually interesting and entertaining enough to where I converted my full attention to these episodes.  Each actor was impeccable.  You could feel each emotion that would erupt from their traumas and you connected fully.  I loved the cat an mouse romance between Frances and Tony, the performance of the on going challenging changes with Carmel, the mourning family who couldn't have been more real.  Nicole Kidman has always been a vision.  Her eyes are so intense, the shade changes with her mood from pale blue to a sea green to piercing deep blue. Such a striking feel. I highly recommend this series.

The Kids in the Hall  1988-2022

David Foley  Kevin McDonald

This is a Canadian sketch comedy show with five guys that do it all.  Executive producer Lorne Michaels (creator of SNL) directs; David Foley, Mark Mckinney, Scott Thompson, Bruce McCullough and Kevin McDonald come together for 20-25 minute episodes jammed with laughter.  I have always enjoyed Kevin McDonald because of his big eyes and high pitched voices were prominate and memorable.  These men all have their own spark and make this comedy show hilarious.  Most of the sketches were unlikely and completely goofy or raunchy.  Some skits are only a few seconds but they can all be something of originality.  Favorite Sketches:  Gavin -Bruce McCullough plays a young boy wears a red backpack, thick glasses and talks to strangers about strange stories and makes up facts for attention.  The husband that get everything wrong- Kevin McDonald plays a husband at get together always embarrasses his wife; the deaf guy, the affair couple, the hostage. Virgil and Weston-Scott Thompson and Mark McKinney play two nerds with glasses and square lips that speak funny- like the game speak out. Jerry Sizzlahhhhh- the two escape mental patients that wear robes and wigs call everyone pricks.
